BETWEEN PETER OBI AND 2027 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

Can Obi Remove Julius Abure As Chairman To Have Total Control Of The Labour Party Leadership ?

Alhassan Abdulrakeem Baba Reporting Live...

ABUJA - NIGERIA

The Labour Party's national chairman, Julius Abure, has been validated by the Court of Appeal in Benin City and a Federal High Court in Abuja, making him the authentic leader of the party.

This validation was based on the party's national convention held in Nnewi, where a new National Executive Committee (NEC) was elected with Abure at the helm.

Given this backdrop, Dr. Barry Avotu Johnson, National Deputy Youth Leader South, and Hon. Abdurrahim Imam Chindo, National Deputy Youth Leader North, believes Peter Obi will find it challenging to remove Abure from leadership.

They cite several reasons, including Obi's disrespect for party leadership, disregard for the party's constitution, and his appointment of a caretaker chairman despite the party leadership not being vacant.

Additionally, Obi's actions have allegedly caused confusion within the Obidient Movement and have led to concerns about his ability to unite Nigerians across various divides.

The youths of the party have reportedly lost trust in Obi as a presidential candidate, questioning his vision for Nigeria and his ability to build trust.

Dr Barry Avotu Johnson 1st who is also running for the seat of the Abuja municipal area council chairmanship Amac in the interview disclosed the honest reasons Why Obi Can't Win Over Abure:

- Disrespect for Party Leadership: Obi's actions have shown disregard for the party's leadership, including the NEC and National Working Committee (NWC)

- Disregard for the Party's Constitution: Obi has disregarded the party's constitution, which has led to concerns about his commitment to the party's values.

- Lack of Trust: Obi's actions have eroded trust among party members, particularly the youths.

- Infighting: Obi's inability to resolve internal conflicts within the party has raised concerns about his capacity to unite Nigerians

Hon Chindo another youth leader representing the north said It appears that Peter Obi is already facing a serious significant challenges in his bid to control the Labour Party's leadership, particularly given Julius Abure's validated position as national chairman and that Obi has instead of finding paths to settlement caused hatred amongst the LP leadership and worked so hard to bring the party to its knees all in the bid to take charge of the party.

Imam said unfortunate that the Abure boys will not allow him take over the part because the LP has a constitution that must be obeyed by all members of the party.

Obi remains a no statutory member of the LP and must obey the rules backing the operations of the party.

In LP a former Presidential candidate doesn't have the same powers we have seen in such individuals from the PDP or the APC.

The leadership of the LP is controlled via the NEC and the NWC and that makes it very responsive so that those who contested elections, winning or losing will not now decode to take over the party.

The national chairman of LP remains the leader of the party, this is what the constitution of the LP says.
