As the debate over the CNG initiative continues to rage, one thing is clear: the Tinubu Administration must listen to the concerns of experts and Nigerians alike, and prioritize safety and public education in its push for cleaner energy solutions.

The National Legislative Conference which was held at the NILDS headquarters in Abuja yesterday, sparked a very serious and intense discussion on the Tinubu Administration's CNG conversion initiative. Dr. Barry Avotu Johnson 1st, Country Director of the Votes Must Count International Initiative, again urged President Bola Tinubu not to joke with the  lives of the Nigerian people over politics.

Dr. Johnson emphasized the need for public education on CNG conversions, citing concerns about safety and the lack of understanding among Nigerians.

He argued that introducing CNG without proper education and framework could pose more dangers than benefits.

The conference, organized by the Hallowmace Foundation in partnership with the National Orientation Agency and the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, brought together legislators, civil society organizations, and NGOs.

Key concerns raised during the conference include:

- Lack of public education: Nigerians need to understand the benefits and risks associated with CNG conversions.

- Safety concerns: The risk of accidents and explosions associated with CNG-powered vehicles.

- Policy framework: The need for a clear policy framework governing CNG operations in Nigeria.

The Presidential CNG Initiative aims to provide a cleaner and more cost-effective alternative to fuel.

However, it is crucial to address the concerns raised during the conference to ensure a smooth transition to CNG-powered transportation.

The organisers of the conference hallowmace foundation is led by Chief Anderson Osiebe in partnership with the National Orientation Agency and the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies.

The event was attended by legislators from the national assembly, Civil society and NGOs in Nigeria.

Senator Ayanna Abaribe participated as the representative of the 10th Senate and played the role of the special keynote speaker alongside Prof Sam Amadi, Hon Nnena, NOA DG, NILD DG and others.

The national legislative conference is a yearly event hosted to find a quality path to national questions begging for answers.
