BARRY AVOTU JOHNSON PUTS UP DISCLAIMER & APOLOGIES TO WIZKID & OTHERS AHEAD OF THE 2023 SHOWDOWN MUSIC CONCERT

THIS AN OFFICIAL APOLOGY AND DISCLAIMER

RE: '2023 OBI-DATTI SHOWDOWN CONCERT'

 

I, Mr Barry Avotu Johnson, Promoter and Convener of the OBIDATT2023 SHOWDOWN Concert event, hereby declare as follows:

1. The proposed concert is entirely my idea, i have not been mandated by the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, or the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation to act on their behalf in any way, and there has not been any prior discussion or engagement, with any of them or their representatives in respect of this.

 

2. I also do not have any engagements, negotiations, mandate, permission or legal contract with any of the artistes depicted in the e-flyers circulated online across the world as regards their appearance in the concert.

The flyers were released by unknown persons and not an attempt on our part to misrepresent the true position of things, which is that there are no contracts or on-going negotiations with Wizkid or any of the other Artistes whose images were used in the e-flyers circulated online and there has been no prior discussion or engagement with any of the artistes or their representatives in respect of this.

3. On behalf of my group the NYDP and all my associates, organising this concert, I will like to apologize to Mr Peter Obi, The Labour Party and the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation for any embarrassment, misrepresentation or confusion arising from publications and promotional materials in respect of the proposed concert.

 

4.On behalf of myself, my group, the NYPD and associates, I will also like to apologize to all artistes, musicians, comedians etc, falsely depicted on the flyers, as the same was done without their authorisation and we take full responsibility for this grave error. We sincerely apologise for any embarrassment, misrepresentation or confusion arising from publications and promotional materials falsely using the various artists’ images in respect of the proposed concert.

5. Finally, we undertake to ensure that going forward, our activities are conducted in a manner that does not infringe on the rights (including intellectual property and image rights) or reputation of any third parties.
