The
association of beauty pageant organizers of Nigeria ABPON yesterday held an emergency
national executive meeting to deliberate on the ongoing issue of deformation of
character against one of its national executive member Mr Ejiro Opkihwo who is
the vice president of the beauty pageant umbrella body.
The national
president of the organization Mr Barry Avotu Johnson 1st had a
meeting in Abuja last night with members of the national executive and the body
decided to investigate the matter leveled against its vice president and the
issue of his stepping aside was put on table with a vote by the house.
The house
voted that their vice president steps aside while he is being investigated on
the charges leveled against him by Ruggedman on a national news blog.
We are doing
this to show how credible ABPON is to regulating the beauty pageant industry in
Nigeria Mr Barry had said. Our national interest shall always be what we stand
for as an association and nothing can ever stand against this organization
moving from a point of dignity to dignity.
We are a
very positively thinking association and I quote nobody shall show any
disrespect to the beauty pageant regulatory body and go scot free this is
because we have suffered to build our reputation over the years.
My vice
president Mr Ejiro is hereby advised to step aside as ABPON’s national vice
president so that a proper investigation on the case leveled against him can commence
and if he’s found guilty he will be expelled from been the national vice president
of our great body.
And on the
point we have also appointed our Mr Val national secretary to chair the ABPON
investigation panel set up to inquire on the case and we have thereby requested
that report should be made to the house in two working days so that our final decision
on this case be made public to Nigerians so that every other embarrassing
matter can stop showing its face on the personality and integrity of ABPON as
the only regulatory organization set up to put rights and privileges in place
in the beauty pageant sector in Nigeria.
Barry
appealed to all Nigerians to relax and wait for a decision that shall be taken
regarding to the investigations collated by the Mr. Val’s investigation panel.
