ABPON APPROVES FACE OF DEMOCRACY AS A MEMBER PAGEANT

The official regulatory body for beauty pageant organizations in Nigeria ABPON yesterday also in its emergency national executive council meeting approved the face of democracy Nigeria as an ABPON member and approved pageant.

The approval came as a shock to the organizers of the event according to them because they have put an application to the body since January and no response was made. We thank the national executives of ABPON for approving our pageant as a national pageant and we promise to perform according to the guide lines of the organization as a beauty pageant event in Nigeria, Mr Olufunsho Ajagbono who is the chief organizer of the event said in a very joyous mode.

The response from the national president Barry Avotu Johnson 1^st was that the delay to approve the face of democracy Nigeria pageant has to undergo a very serious investigation as a beauty pageant organization before any approval is given.

He said that it is only in Nigeria you see individuals hosting pageants without following the due process of registration and all that, you have said in the past that we are working out a committee that shall carry out the duties of cancelling all unregistered beauty pageant events across Nigeria and the announcement of all the fake pageants across Nigeria shall commence after our national executive inauguration. All pageants must be registered under ABPON and that’s the only way we can be able to monitor the excess in the pageant in Nigeria.

We must learn how to do things here so that we would not end up like other professions that have not been able to control the misshapes in their industry.

For us in the beauty pageant industry we are bent in promoting the cultural and traditional heritage of Nigeria in a grand style. And we can’t do this without coming together as a team or family.
