DELTA NORTH LOBBIES EVELYN ACHUDUME TO RUN FOR REPS
Leaders, youth groups, women organizations, and community stakeholders from Delta North have intensified calls on cybersecurity expert and law enforcement professional Evelyn Nkechi Achudume to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives of Nigeria in the 2027 Nigerian General Elections.
The growing appeal from her people follows what community leaders described as her long-standing record of integrity, professional excellence, and commitment to community development.
At a gathering held by stakeholders from Delta North, elders and youth representatives urged Achudume to heed the call of her people and present herself as a candidate who can effectively represent their interests at the national level.
Community leaders said the call became necessary due to the need for competent, credible, and experienced individuals who can provide responsible leadership and champion development in the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of community stakeholders, one of the conveners said the people believe Achudume possesses the character, competence, and national exposure needed to represent Delta North effectively.
According to him, her background in public service and international education places her in a unique position to advocate for policies that promote transparency, youth development, and technological advancement.
“We believe she has the experience and integrity to represent our people with dignity. We want someone who understands governance, security, and development,” the community leader stated.
Youth groups at the meeting also expressed strong support, noting that Achudume’s professional journey and commitment to empowering young people make her an inspiring figure for the next generation.
Achudume, a cybersecurity analyst and former law enforcement officer with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, is widely respected for her contributions to combating financial crimes and promoting accountability in public institutions.
She was among the pioneer trained cadets of the anti-corruption agency and played roles in investigations and enforcement actions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s fight against financial crimes.
Her professional journey also includes experience with Shell Petroleum Development Company, where she worked in Geographic Information Systems, supporting exploration and operational planning through advanced spatial data analysis.
With academic qualifications that include multiple postgraduate degrees in information security and cybersecurity, and a Ph.D. currently in progress at University of Abuja, supporters believe she brings rare technical expertise to public leadership.
Responding to the growing calls, Achudume acknowledged the encouragement from her people and reiterated her commitment to responsible leadership.
“Integrity, Security, Opportunity, and Responsible Leadership.”
In her manifesto, Achudume emphasizes the importance of transparency in governance, digital security in national institutions, and policies that expand opportunities for Nigerian youth.
She also highlighted the need to strengthen anti-corruption mechanisms, drawing from her experience at the EFCC.
According to her, corruption remains one of the biggest obstacles to national development, and stronger legislative frameworks are required to ensure accountability in public institutions.
A major pillar of her proposed legislative agenda is youth empowerment.
Achudume said Nigeria’s future depends on empowering young people with relevant skills, access to entrepreneurship opportunities, and improved educational systems.
Her plans include advocating for vocational and digital skills programs, increased investment in public education, and stronger partnerships between government and the private sector to create employment opportunities.
She also emphasized the importance of integrating technology into education and promoting research and innovation in Nigerian universities.
Beyond national policy, Achudume pledged to focus on constituency development by attracting federal projects that improve infrastructure, healthcare access, water supply, and rural transportation.
She also promised to maintain strong engagement with constituents through regular town hall meetings, transparent reporting of constituency projects, and the establishment of youth advisory councils.
Observers say the call for Achudume to run reflects a broader desire among constituents for leaders with professional credibility and a commitment to public accountability.
Many community members believe her background in cybersecurity, law enforcement, and community advocacy positions her to bring a fresh perspective to legislative governance.
As political activities gradually build toward the 2027 elections, supporters in Delta North say they will continue consultations and mobilization efforts to encourage Achudume to formally declare her candidacy.
For many residents, the call is simple.
They want a representative who embodies integrity, competence, and a genuine commitment to the people.
And in their view, Evelyn Nkechi Achudume may be the leader they have been waiting for.
