Lack of proper coordination in the distribution of the Delta State Government palliative measures has been identified as a major factor militating against the good intentions of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s genuine efforts at bringing succour to the good people of the state in trying to cushion the debilitating effects of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19.
The Delta State Coordinator of the Nigerian Democratic Evolution (NDE), Mr Azikiwe U. Roland and Secretary, Mr Samson Ogie made these remarks in a statement in Warri, Monday, saying that “some of the people appointed to distribute these palliatives are actually using the opportunity to feather their nests to the detriment of the supposed beneficiaries.”
According to the NDE chieftains “this lack of coordination involves even the security agents expected to secure the inter/intra state border lockdown including some powerful government officials”.
They task Nigerian youths to support every government action aimed at making Nigeria a great nation in this trying period and commended Governor Okowa, Dr Mike Diden and Chief Askia Ogie, the Chairman and Managing Director of DESOPADEC for all their efforts at ameliorating the sufferings of Deltans across the state through providing the much needed support and showing concern for the plight of the needy.

While charging Nigeria government to emulate Taiwan in the efforts at curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus through genuine and well-coordinated programme, they pleaded with government to ensure constant and regular food and medical supplies to the masses and to further ascertain the true nature of a patient’s ailment before taking them into isolation Center and pronouncing them COVID-19 positive cases.
