"PRESIDENT BUHARI SCORES QUALITY IMPLEMENTATION VALUES FOR ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY IN NIGERIA AS 'BPSR' PRESENTS POLICY RECOMMENDATION FOR FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT"

"PRESIDENT BUHARI SCORES QUALITY IMPLEMENTATION VALUES FOR ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY IN NIGERIA AS 'BPSR' PRESENTS POLICY RECOMMENDATION FOR FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT"

The most over rated freedom of information act of the public service of the federal republic of NIGERIA have been presented in a ceremony to Nigerians today.

The acting director general of the bureau of public service reform BPSR, MR. D. I. ARABI officially performed the unveiling and presentation of the policy brief and recommendation for the strengthening of the implementation of the freedom of information act of NIGERIA in abuja the federal capita city of NIGERIA this Tuesday Amist the representatives of other specially invited public servants from different ministries and parastatas with a view to mobilize the people towards a responsive understanding of government policies with due implementation of the outline of the document respectively.

Mr Arabi disclosed to the press that the policy recommendation document which was listed in a produced booklet form is a policy brief that is officially designed to strengthen the freedom of information act for public servants in Nigeria.

He further said that a major cultural shift in most countries of the world has been the move towards more open government. Nigeria is not an exception with its recent committement to open government partnership championed by president Muhammadu Buhari.

The BPSR boss went ahead to state that the idea that public information depends on what government chooses to reveal is being replaced by the principle that government must have a valid public interest reason for withholding information.

He said open government also means ensuring that government services are accessible to the public and making government more responsive by ensuring citizens to participate in decision making processes.
He agrees that greater openness can have  a positive effect on performance.
An open government is effectively a spring pad towards the maintaince of a very high standard of integrity in conducting government business.

According to  to our Btv Television Network reporter Barry Avotu Johnson 1st who was at the function wrote that the BPSR boss again reminded Nigerians on the passage of the freedom of information act in 2011 that its a product of the collaborations between citizens, civic society organizations and government which took several years from the origin of its first drafting in 1994 to get it to passes the both chambers of the national assembly and the accent of the executive before of became law.

So as president buhari settles down to face the next level agenda for a new Nigeria where the right things are expected to be done a for the betterment of Nigerians, it is very highly regarded that the freedom of information act of the public service must be seen as an instrument that builds on an open assumption of openness by placing on those who wish to keep public inform away from e people, the onus of justifying why they have to do so. If fully implemented, it will surely expected to transform, quite fundamentally, the way in which government conducts business in NIGERIA and the perception of the people towards the government.

President Muhammadu buhari is poised to making sure that Nigerians can access information as it when due and that is a practical demonstration to building a much more Democratic nation where the people can move to the access points across all government establishment to get information at well.

Btv Television Network predicts that In this second term relaunch of the buhari adminstration, we shall be witnessing the freedom of information act as a huge turn around in the area of  its access and implementation prope.

The BPSR was created with the vision to have an integrity and merit based professional public service, driven by national interest and efficient management of resources and talents which is coupled with a solid mission to facilitate the building of Nigeria's public service into a highly functional, professional customer focused and result-oriented institutions.

The BPSR who was formed in 2004 to drive, coordinate and monitor the public service reforms initiated by the Democratic elected government of NIGERIA operating under the office of the of the secretary to the government of the federation sgf is also poised with the duty of  initiating actions on reform at the public service levels,  provide advisory and technical support services to change management teams or working groups amongst others.

Mr D. I Arabi after the official presentation of the  policy recommendations booklet thanked the media and all those who attended the event and promised to follow other measures that can be taken into considerations to improve the freedom of information act.
