The Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that a supplementary
gubernatorial election for Kogi State will be held on December 5th 2015
for 91 polling stations affected by irregularities, according to INEC
Resident Commissioners.
According to INEC, the gubernatorial election held in Kogi State on November 21st was deemed to be inconclusive because of questions raised related to these 91 polling units.
The statement released by INEC also said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) must fill the vacancy left by Mr. Audu, and that the campaign for all 22 political parties in the State will continue for the 91 polling units affected.
On Sunday, SaharaReporters first revealed that Mr. Audu had died moments after it was reported by the media that he had successfully won the gubernatorial election. The news of his death created confusion within the APC ranks and brought about serious constitutional questions.
The statement was signed by Mrs. Augusta Ogakwu, the Secretary to INEC.
