Ben Bruce Under Fire On Twitter, Nigerians Question Stance On Government Abuse
Bruce's statements are efforts to curb the criticism he
has received from Nigerians about his silence on budget allocations. One
of Bruce's platforms was anti-extravagance in the senate and the need
for public servants to mirror the financial situation of a majority of
citizens in the country.
Bruce had previously said that he would do all that he could to fight corruption and unnecessary spending in the National Assembly.
On May 31st, 2015 Bruce wrote on his twitter account, "I'm fighting the corrupt elite. I'm 59. The worst they can do is to take me out, so what?"
Today, after the release of the budget for the upcoming year, hundreds of tweets were tweeted at Bruce directly. He responded with. "I only control my actions. The best I can do is influence the actions of my colleagues in the Senate. Nations change over time not overnight."
"Let me assure my constituents and the rest of Nigeria that I remain committed to fighting for their interests. I urge patience and understanding from all Nigerians even as I assure you that I, Ben Murray Bruce, will continue to be on your side," he stated.

The Senator once said that politicians are risking death by their continuous actions which rob the deprived in society from state funding and proper development.
