A Spanish nurse who
treated a priest, Manuel Garcia Viejo, infected with Ebola in Madrid
last month has contracted the virus herself.
The nurse, who tested positive for Ebola in two separate tests, is the first case of the disease to originate outside Africa, authorities say.
Despite receiving the experimental anti-Ebola treatment ZMAPP, Viejo died of Ebola on September 25. He is said to have contracted the virus in Sierra Leone.
Spanish newspaper El Pais said the nurse was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning with a high fever.
The emergency room she was placed in has now been isolated.
