The
Nigerian government delegation will be heading to Chad in continuation
of ceasefire talks with the Boko Haram sect, which was widely reported
following the announcement by Nigeria’s military chief, Air Marshal Alex
Badeh, of a ceasefire late last week.
A man who claimed to be speaking on behalf of the sect, Danladi
Ahmadu, also confirmed Badeh’s claim but was highly doubted by other
sources in the know of the sect's operations, who claimed he is an
impostor.A source in Maiduguri confirmed to our reporter that Hassan Tukur, who is President Goodluck Jonathan’s private secretary, would be leading the government team.
Tukur is expected to team up with Chadian President Idris Deby and emissaries of the sect.
Tukur was quoted in a radio interview this morning in Maiduguri expressing optimism that the Nigerian government is in dialogue with genuine representatives of Boko Haram.
