Buhari Crushes Goodluck Jonathan

If the 2015 Nigeria presidential election were held today, General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress would crush the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan, in a head-to-head contest by a whopping margin of 78% to 22, an unscientific online survey indicates.

Muhammadu Buhari The survey, run through an independent third-party service called POLL, was open for 24 hours, starting on Wednesday afternoon after Buhari formally threw his hat into the presidential ring.

The survey asked: "If the 2015 Nigerian presidential election were held today, with President Jonathan as the PDP candidate and Muhammadu Buhari as the APC candidate, who would win? Why?"

POLL, which conducted and counted the survey, does not accept repeat voting. During the 24 hours, 14314 people voted, with the result overwhelmingly in support of General Buhari, who at one point held an 80% support. Early 2015 Nigerian presidential election poll results

Respondents came from Nigeria, Canada, South Africa, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, UAE, Kuwait, Lithuania, Mauritius, India, Italy, Sudan, Australia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Thailand.
As the poll went on, a robust debate was also held across social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook. While a majority of responses mirrored the survey results which supported Buhari, some also held that President Jonathan would take another term.
While the poll was not scientific or official, it was engineered to provide a point of discussion, one expected to intensify over the course of the coming months.
